Summer is the season of numerous strong open tournaments, but not only. Usually in July-August the North Urals Cup women chess super tournament used to take place. It always attracted intense attention of chess fans. Unfortunately, this year Krasnoturinsk is not holding the event (I hope the tradition will resume next year).
However, a new great event has been introduced The Baltic Queen. We would like to compensate for the insufficient coverage of the tournament, and familiarize you with it.
The Baltic Queen takes place in the cultural capital of Russia St. Petersburg. The schedule: from 11 to 20th of August, average rating of participants 2445, GM and IM norms can be earned. Ten women chess players are participating (see the official website for more info), while 6 of them used to be either European champions, or prize winners.

And now back to the chess story. As of this writing, 5 rounds have passed. A lot of interesting games have been played, lets take a look at some of them:
Womens events are famous for fighting spirit, will for victory, and unpredictability. Each competitor has a chance to shine. Its hard to guess who will win the event. The Baltic Queen is not an exception in these respects. So, why not enjoy following the tournament, and other womens events!?
