The article "Women and men in chess - smashing the stereotypes" has been very popular with Pogonina.com, ChessBase.com, Sports.ru and Chess.com readers. Most of the feedback we have received included statements such as "stop your hatred against men", "this is feminist stuff", "women are just worse players than men, face it and try something else". However, there were messages of a different kind. Here's a bright example: Dear Natalia, I have read your chess base article (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=5523) with great interest and saw some of the typical, old-fashion reactions to it (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=5544 ). Sexism survives easiest in the international chess world and in the Italian government, it seems. In any event, we have addressed the stereotyping hypothesis scientifically and have found overwhelming support for it (see attachment). Of course many more studies are needed (unfortunately we have exhausted the Italian female chess pool so future studies have to be run elsewhere). Best regards Anne University of Padova Here's the link to the scientific article, hope you will enjoy it: Women and chess
