Traditionally, it's the perfect time for the qeekly Q&As. Here they are:

Q1: Do you play chess with odds? What odds can you offer to a USCF 1400 player?
A1: Very rarely since playnig chess with odds makes one adopt a weird way of thinking, playing for traps and constantly thinking about resigning. A 1400 would have rather good chances against me queen ahead. Time odds are preferable though...

Q2: Do you believe that chess talent is more of a nature, or nurture ability? I remember reading in one of Seirawan's books that he thought anyone could obtain a grandmaster title after 10 years of hard study, regardless of "natural gifts." Do you agree?
A2: I believe in the power of a human's brain. Probably, given proper conditions, hard work, motivation, etc., an average person may indeed become a master. Not sure about 10 years/GM though. It took most pros longer than that...

Q3: Who is your favorite at Dortmund?

A3: I thought Vladimir Kramnik should win it, but now I don't know...

Q4: Knight or bishop?
A4: Depends on the position, but I love all the chess pieces equally.

Q5: Is there a separate World Champion title for women? Are you playing at the next World Championship?
A5: Yes, this title exists, and I'll be playing at the World Championship in December, 2010.

Q6: When is your next event?
A6: In August, the annual Russia vs China match. 5 classical games and 20 (!) rapid.

Q7: How would you describe your chess style?
A7: It's hard to say, pretty universal... Probably positional tactic, i.e. playing positionally and using tactics to convert a better position or take advantage of opponent's mistakes.
