Image from the official site In game 1 Magnus Carlsen had White. He opened up with 1.Nf3, but it clearly didn't catch Viswanathan Anand off guard. The World Chess Champion equalized easily and drew the game on move 16. During the press conference both players acted like nothing special has happened, but the outcome of the game is clearly a small moral victory for Anand, because, according to the opinion of most experts, Carlsen will by trying to exhaust Anand by playing long and "boring" games, hoping to capitalize on the Norwegian's legendary endgame skills.
