By FM , FIDE 2298 I have been reading your site for many weeks now and indeed there are some interesting news. I have been interested in the huge rating differences when weaker players have won. Here is something from me: Heart of Finland, July 2011 I started with 6/6 against the following opponents: 1. GM Jouni Yrjölä 2366 2 .IM Kalle Kiik 2425 3. Kauko Rantsi unrated 4. Teemu Pudas 2228 5. GM Maxim Novik 2478 6. GM Sarunas Sulskis 2591 (377 rating points difference) Strange result for player who is ranked around 24th? Then things went downhill for me: 7. - Yulius Sepman 2319 8. - GM Vladislav V. Vorotnikov 2422 9. = GM Meelis Kanep 2531 Performance 2545, IM norm. I had a huge advantage against Kanep, but I was tired of having played chess for 2 weeks in a row and have already earned an IM norm by that point. If I had won, then I would have gotten a GM norm. I was rated FIDE 2214 at that time. View the game against GM Sulskis with FM
