Peter Svidler The FIDE Candidates Tournament will be held in Khanty-Mansyisk, Russia, from March 12th to 30th in order to determine the next Challenger for the World Chess Champion title. According to FIDE.com, the organizer's nominee will be 7-time Russian Chess Champion Peter Svidler. Here is the list of the participants: Magnus Carlsen (2870), Norway or Viswanathan Anand (2775), India - depending on who wins the WCC match in 2013 Levon Aronian (2801), Armenia, qualified by rating Vladimir Kramnik (2793), Russia, winner of the World Chess Cup'13 Veselin Topalov (2774), Bulgaria, winner of the FIDE Grand Prix 2012-2013 Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2757), Azerbaijan, qualified by reaching 2nd place in FIDE Grand Prix 2012-2013 Sergey Karjakin (2756), Russia, qualified by rating Peter Svidler (2752), Russia, nominee of the organizers Dmitry Andreikin (2710), Russia, runner-up of the World Chess Cup'13 Notably, 4 out of 8 (50%) of the WCC candidates are representing Russia.
