Tragic news: according to a forum post by GM Roman Ovetchkin, Chelyabinsk GM Igor Kurnosov (who was 28 just years old) was killed by a car while crossing the street.

Igor Kurnosov was a strong Russian grandmaster, winner of many international tournaments (Arctic Chess Challenge, Hastings Masters, Biel Open, Politiken Cup, Abu Dhabi Chess Festival, Nakhchivan Open, etc.), and was rated as high as FIDE 2680 at some point of his chess career. More importantly, he was an honest, kind, positive person; a great friend; and a chess professional who had a true passion for the game.

Igor, we will be missing you a lot! Rest in peace!

Chess Players are in a big Family in the whole world and all of us are sad with the leaving of one of our members. Wish Kurnosov faces Tahl, Fischer and Capablanca and win all of them i the heaven.

Actually I think the Chessbase DVDs can be played with a regalur DVD player. It has atleast worked for me. However, the Chessbase interface is not the same and the pieces look rather unattractive and different. Therefore playing the Chessbase DVDs on a computer is preferable.
