The Russian Higher League is the strongest national Swiss tournament featuring FIDE 2590+ rated (and some qualifiers) players in the men's section and 2360+ rated (and also some qualifiers) participants in the women's section. Both female and male masters are motivated by strong competition, prizes and a chance to win one of the 5 entries to the Russian Superfinal in November.

Russian Higher League-2010 (Men):
August 25-September 06 (Irkutsk, Russia). Swiss tournament, 10 rounds, 48 players.
Rating favorites: Tomashevsky (2708), Nepomniatchi (2706), Alekseev (2691), Timofeev (2690), Rublevsky (2688)
Prize fund: $80k+, 1st place - $16,600; 2nd - $10,800; 3rd - $7,700, 4th - $5,300; 5th - $4,000 etc.

Online broadcast (games start at 10 a.m. Moscow time, rest day on Sept. 1st, final round starts at 7 a.m.)

August 25-September 03 (Saint Petersburg, Russia). Swiss tournament, 9 rounds, 34 players.
