The ACP World Cup is an annual event featuring some of the best chess players in the world. Most of them qualify by occupying top spots in the ACP World Tour rankings, while a few receive wild cards from the organizers. This year the field
included the following persons:

Per the regulations, the players who were eliminated in round 1 earned $2,500, in round 2 - $4,000, round 3 - $6,000, $8,000 to the runner-up and $14,000 to the champion.

As you can see, one of the most remarkable results has been Mikhail Girevich's run. Aged 51 and short on practice, he managed to knock-out two favorites - Ivanchuk and Gashimov without even having to play tie-breaks!

The final turned into a duel between two young Russian grandmasters - Dmitry Jakovenko and Sergey Karjakin. After 4 draws in rapid and 2 draws in blitz, Sergey, Carlsen's peer and possibly main rival in the future, managed to win an Armageddon game against Dmitry.
