The tournament enters the free day not without producing a crucial result: the formidable Russian team defeats top-seeded India by 3-1. The score could have been less severe had India's third board Aravindh not overstepped the limit of admissible risk against Vavulin, in a desperate attempt to restore the equality in the match.
