The World Mind Sport Games have been taking place since 2008 in five disciplines - chess, checkers, go, bridge and Chinese chess. This year's edition was held in Bejing, China. Many of the world's top players decided to take part in rapid, blitz and blindfold chess competitions. Here are the tournament results:

The results of the rapid competition were sensational indeed - very few people expected Laurent Fressinet to win, while the reigning World Rapid Chess Champion Sergey Karjakin and such elite GMs as Levon Aronian and Vassily Ivanchuk finished close to the end of the tournament standings.

Levon Aronian finally broke his string of upsetting performances and won the blindfold division. The main disappointment was Alexander Morozevich's result. After all, he is known as one of the best blindfold chess players in history.

The youngest Women's World Chess Champion (and already a former one) Hou Yifan achieved a great result in blindfold chess - 6/7. Her only loss came to Viktoria Cmilyte, who got silver. Anna Zatonskih finished at clear third.
