From St. Louis just this week.  Position after 21 moves of play.  With energetic play Raja has developed a strong initiative.  The extra Pawn for Black is irrelevant at this point of the game as Blacks development is less than ideal.  White finds a clever idea to exploit the awkward position of the Black Queen.

WHITE TO PLAY AND WIN!

Order in Class

A class of nine pupils sat at desks arranged in three rows and three columns. Viewed from the front of the class, Oliver sat somewhere behind and in the same column as Ursula, who sat one row behind and one column to the left of George. Colin and Maggie sat at opposite ends of the same row, Colin being leftmost. George sat in the same row as Ivan while Tina sat one row behind and one column to the right of Norman.

Where was Peter sitting and what was he studying?

Black to move

In the position on the diagram Black bravely sacrificed a queen (Qa1) and eventually won.
a) Try to calculate the lines after Qa1 and evaluate the situation.
b) Was there an even better move than Qa1? Finding the solution probably won't be easy.

White to move

Defensive tactics. Move 40, so you have to reach the time control safely.
a) What is the best continuation for White?
b) Why is 40.Qd4 (played in the game) a fatal mistake?
